Bioethics debates on pediatric research often centers on aspects such <\/span>as assent and parental permission, shared decision-making, data <\/span>protection, and regulatory issues. However, the complexity and recent <\/span>years developments of biomedical research also raise profound\u00a0 <\/span>philosophical, historical, and socio-anthropological issues. Over less\u00a0 <\/span>than a century, health research has undergone major changes due both <\/span>to technoscientific innovation and sociocultural processes. Among most <\/span>important transformations are the development of clinical\u00a0 <\/span>epidemiology, of evidence-based medicine, and the Cochrane <\/span>Collaboration; the emergence of the fields of medical humanities and <\/span>bioethics, as well as international and national guidelines and <\/span>recommendations; and the steady growth of patient and public <\/span>involvement\u2019s initiatives. Against this background, CareInTrials <\/em><\/span>explores possible dimensions of care in pediatric research, while <\/span>examining the different ways in which childhood is understood in <\/span>everyday practices and relationships within clinical trials.<\/span><\/p>\n
